On September 21, 2009, I launched my business. Entrepreneurship fundamentally transformed my life, offering security and freedom through personal effort.
The Truth About Starting
I wasn’t born an entrepreneur. I was simply an excitable young guy with an idea and a decent work ethic.
My formal education didn’t adequately prepare me for business realities. Instead, continuous learning through books, podcasts, and on-the-job experience became my true education.
Overcoming Obstacles
The journey included numerous mistakes. But each failure became a learning opportunity.
Part of my success came from treating client businesses like they were our own. That fostered loyalty and repeat work.
Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
You won’t have all answers immediately. But business skills are learnable.
Rather than waiting for perfection, start small. Find one client. Build incrementally.
Addressing Fear
My approach to overcoming fear: identify worst-case scenarios and recognize they’re survivable.
What’s the worst that could happen? You fail and get a job? That’s not the end of the world. That’s where most people already are.
This mental exercise provided confidence to begin.
The Bigger Picture
At 40-plus years old, I now structure life around personal choices.
Consider this: in 15 years, will you reflect with regrets or satisfaction?
The Real Question
Taking action toward your aspirations, however imperfectly, matters more than endless preparation.
What’s stopping you?
