This day planning system comes from 14 years of running an agency and advising over 50 agency owners. Success comes from proper planning rather than working harder.
1. Plan Tomorrow Tonight
Spend five minutes each evening writing down the next day’s tasks.
That 5-minute evening plan means waking up with a clear plan instead of anxiety. If you miss it at night, complete planning before checking emails.
Don’t let your inbox set your agenda.
2. Apply the 80/20 Rule
Identify which two tasks from a ten-item list drive the most results.
Ask yourself: If I were leaving for a month, which task would be essential to complete first?
That’s your priority.
3. Practice Single Tasking
Focus completely on your most important task without email checks or interruptions.
Use headphones and calendar blocks to maintain focus. When I started single tasking, I was getting more done in less time.
Multitasking is a lie we tell ourselves.
4. Structure Large Projects
Break major initiatives into checklists with specific deadlines and owners.
This eliminates last-minute scrambles. When everyone knows what’s due and when, things actually get done.
5. Conduct Daily Reviews
End each day by answering three questions:
- What went well?
- What didn’t?
- What needs to change?
Five minutes of reflection prevents weeks of repeated mistakes.
The Challenge
Implement one strategy this week.
Knowing and doing are different beasts entirely. That difference is what distinguishes scaling agencies from stagnant ones.
Pick one. Start today.
